| February | Has started with a good run of Pollack, If early signs are anything to go by then we could be in for a good season, Pollack fishing will continue to improve, Biggest Pollack so far 18lbs with a few Ling landed to 24lbs, |
| March | Well what more can I say, Pollack and Ling should be here in good numbers on all wrecks Plus a few Cod and Coalfish mixed in, Inshore the Plaice will begin to show from the third week onwards and this will be the mainstay of the inshore fishing for about 5 or 6 weeks, Various other species are caught whilst drift fishing for the plaice including a few Turbot, |
| April | April is one of the best months of the year,
Wrecking is at a peak with Pollack, Ling, Cod and Coalfish and the Plaice
fishing on the famous Shambles bank is in full swing with
Plaice to 7lbs, Turbot
to 28lbs and the odd Cod and Pollack as well, Its at this time that we turn our attention towards the Channel Islands for the Turbot and Brill which arrive there in large numbers, |
| May | Wreck fishing continues to be excellent with Cod, Pollack, Ling and Congers making up the bulk of the catch, BUT the Channel Islands is now at its best for Turbot, Brill and Bass and this is where we will be fishing virtually 7 days a week until the end of September. |
| June |
The weather is set fine week after week, 90 degrees 'HA Ha' fishing is steady day after day, it is such a hard life, good wine good food and no bad women, Bassing getting better every tide, Turbots and Brill nice and steady (10 to 15 fish a day), wrecking plenty of Cod and Pollack, Congers starting to be more abundant with Ling just a few a day, Well must get back to my deck chair to top up my sun tan. |
| July |
Well what can I say still too hot, fishing is very steady, just starting my first 5 day trip to Alderney plenty of Cod and Congers on the way across the channel, Bass fishing at its peak with a good average run up to 10 pounds, still a few Turbot and Brill 6 to 8 a day, The tope have arrived 20 to 30 fish per hour fishing time, with fish up to 40/50 pounds, And the black Bream have turn up in great numbers to 5 pounds, we are at sea 7 days a week, now travelling 1500 miles at sea a month more than the car at home, the wife thinks I am the lodger, home only 6 nights this month. |

The shambles bank is fishing well for Bass, Brill, Turbot and the odd Plaice On the rocky ground Congers, Cod, Pollack, Ling, Huss, Bream and much much more Well must go my deck chair looks so inviting. |

| October | Well tripping is slowing down only out 10 to 15 days a month now, more time to be with the Wife and catch up on some of the decorating, still plenty of Bass about though and one or two Turbot with all the rough ground fish feeding up for the winter, |
| November | Getting colder every day but one or two fine days in between, time to start fishing for the Cod and Whiting, enjoying more rest to recharge the body and get ready for Christmas. |
| December | Still fishing for the Cod and Whiting only 5 or 6 trips this month but plenty to do making lead weights and perks, about a quarter of ton to melt for next years fishing trips, must go her in doors is putting Christmas Dinner on the table. |
